Avijit murder: Suspect Zafran put on remand

A Dhaka court on Thursday placed Zafran Hasan, suspect in blogger Avijit Roy murder case on a fresh remand for five days for more interrogation about the murder.
Magistrate Aminul Haque of the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka passed the order after hearing on a seven-day of the accused.
Fazlur Rahman, Detective Branch (DB) Inspector and also the Investigation Officer of the case produced the suspect to the court with the remand prayer. Earlier, he was on a seven-day remand.
Other five suspects in the case: Ansarullah Bangla Team member Shafiur Rahman Farabi, Touhidur Rahman, Sadek Ali, Aminul Islam and Manna Yahia alias Rahi were also placed on remand for different terms in the case.
Blogger Avijit was hacked on February 26 night in TSC area of Dhaka University. His wife Nafiza Ahmed Bannya, who was accompanying him was injured there. Avijit was immediately rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where the physicians declared him dead. Avijit, an American expatriate, wrote more than nine books.
