A man with suspected ties to a robbery at an MP’s house in Thakurgaon has died in what the police described as a shootout.
The shootout took place at Upazila’s Jagannathpur neighbourhood on Monday night, said Farhat Ahmed, superintendent of police for the district. In a
media briefing on Tuesday, Ahmed said the man was about 30 years old. “We are yet to know the name of the man, but we can confirm that he was involved in the robbery at the MP’s house.” On a tip-off, the police raided Haripukur area where some of the suspected robbers were hiding, said Ahmed.
“Sensing the presence of policemen, the robbers opened fire forcing them to retaliate. One robber was hit by bullet in the gunfight and the rest fled the scene,” he said.
