State Minister for Cultural Affairs KM Khalid said the controversy over the number of martyrs during the Liberation War will end if the survey on genocide in 64 districts is completed.
“One of the important works of the research centre on genocide-torture and Liberation War is conducting the survey of genocide, slaughterhouses and mass graves in every district… After completion of the survey the controversy on martyrs’ number will end,” he said.
He said this while inaugurating a day-long seminar on ‘Genocide-Torture Archive and Museum and Research Center on Genocide-Torture and Liberation War’ at the Poet Shamsur Rahman Seminar Room of Bangla Academy in the city on Monday, said a press release.
“The research centre, in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, has conducted survey in 26 districts and published survey reports in book form… About 13,854 genocide data were found in these 28 districts,” he said.
President of the Genocide Museum Professor Muntasir Mamun presided over the function while Trustee of the Genocide Museum, writer-journalist Shahriar Kabir presented the keynote paper.
