First Division Cricket: Surjo Tarun beat Bangladesh Boys by 260 runs

Surjo Tarun notched a massive 260-run victory over Bangladesh Boys in a match of the Dhaka Metropolis First Division Cricket League at the Dhaka University ground on Tuesday.
Batting first after winning the toss, Surjo Tarun amassed a formidable 326 runs for 7 wickets in 50 overs, riding on a century by number three Kamran Farhad who smashed 127 runs off 106 balls. Aslam Hossain and Zahirul Islam Shawon made half-centuries scoring 64 and 53 runs respectively off 62 and 42 balls.
Torikul Islam Sunam took two wickets for 53 runs while Bhuban Sutradhar, Mohiuddin Belal, Zakaria Islam and Syed Khaled Ahmad took one wicket each for 31, 52, 53 and 65 runs respectively.
Chasing a mammoth target of 327 runs, Bangladesh Boys were dismissed cheaply for 66 runs in 13.4 overs.
Mohiuddin Belal (26) and Torikul Islam Rasel (19) were the only double digit scorers for Bangladesh Boys.
Mahfuzur Rahman Titu and Monirul Islam grabbed five wickets and three wickets respectively, both conceding 14 runs while Shariful Islam Rubel took two wickets for 9 runs.
In the day’s other matches, Khelaghar SKS beat City Club by 5 wickets in a curtailed over match at Fatullah Outer Stadium; Magnum Cricketers beat Rapid Foundation by 61 runs, also in a curtailed 34-over match at BKSP-2 in Savar; and Baridhara Dazzlers beat Cricket Coaching School by 29 runs at Dhanmondi Cricket Stadium.
Khelaghar SKS vs City Club:
Sent in to bat first, City Club scored 159 runs for all in revised 27 overs with opener Akhter Hosain contributing 56 runs off 47 balls.
Set 160 runs to win, Khelaghar SKS scored 126 runs for 5 wickets in 25.1 overs with skipper Niaz Morshed making 70 runs off 63 balls.
Magnum Cricketers vs Rapid Foundation:
Sent in to bat first, Magnum Cricketers scored 189 runs for all in 33.5 overs with Mostafizur Rahman making team highest 43 runs off 44 balls.
Chasing 190 runs, Rapid Foundation were all out for 128 runs in 31.5 overs with Robiul Karim scoring team highest 22 runs off 44 balls.
Baridhara Dazzlers vs Cricket Coaching SC:
Sent into bat first, Baridhara Dazzlers scored 287 runs for 6 wickets in 50 overs, with opening batsman Sheikh Waliul Karim Rony contributing not out 129 runs off 145 balls while SM Raihan Sharif smashed a half-century scoring 58 runs off 38 balls.
In reply, Cricket Coaching School scored 258 for all in 48.5 overs, riding on Saif Hasan and Sumon’s half-centuries of 58 and 51 runs respectively.
