Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the four-day long grand programme of Surer Dhara-Channel i Chaitra Sangkranti 1424 and Borshoboron 1425 at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre (BICC) in the city’s Sher-e-Banglanagar area on April 11.
This year Surer Dhara is also celebrating its silver jubilee. The premier also unveiled Shruti Geetobitan-2 at the opening ceremony. Channel i has aired the programme live.
“Surer Dhara cannot avert the social liability throughout its journey of 25 years. Cultural practice is a great weapon for sequential development,” said Rezwana Chowdhury Bannya, the Chairman and Principal of the organisation.
She also thanked the premier for allocating a piece of land to Surer Dhara.
Apart from the Prime Minister, Professor Emeritus Anisuzzaman and Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor were among others to speak at the programme. Managing Director of Channel i Faridul Reza sagar, Director and Head of News of the channel Shykh Seraj were present at the event.
Led by, Bannya, the artistes of Surer Dhara rendered choral songs at the programme.
Presentation of folk songs, Ponchokabi’r Gaan, poetry recitations, staging of drama and other cultural performances will take place today and tomorrow to celebrate the occasion. n
