Awami League Advisory Council member and the Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Suranjit Sengupta Friday called the concerned authority to bring bank discipline in banking system.
“The concerned authority has to bring back discipline in the banking system in conformity with the law of the country, otherwise it will not bring any benefits for the government,” he said this while speaking as the chief guest at a discussion on ‘Current Politics’ organized by Bangabandhu Academy (BA) at city’s Kakrail area.
AL leader Minhaj Uddin Mintu, Alamgir Hossain and BA cultural Secretary Shahnaj Parvin, Secretary General Humayun Kabir Miji also spoke with BA Adviser Haji Mohammad Selim in the chair.
Demanding immediate arrest of the persons including the Chairman and the Managing Director of Basic Bank who were responsible for the scam in the bank, he said, “It would not be fair, if they are not brought to book and their bank accounts seized.”
Suranjit said that the central bank should be more responsible to avoid such corruptions in banking sector.
“There is a separate secretary and division for the banking sector but the bank money is being looted by some non-professional persons as members of the Board of Directors of the concerned banks,” he added.
He also condemned the attack on a Malaysian plane which was shot down in eastern Ukraine on Thursday, killing all 295 people aboard.
