The Supreme Court (SC) will resume its regular function from today after a more than three-week Eid vacation.
The apex court went to the vacation on June 17, leaving 20 High Court vacation benches and one Appellate Division Chamber Judge court to deal with the emergency matters during the period.
According to court sources, a couple of important cases are scheduled to be disposed of after the end of the vacation. Of these, one is money laundering case against BNP leader Tarique Rahman.
A High Court division bench will deliver verdict on the appeal filed by Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) in that case against Tarique and his buddy and business partner Giasuddin Al Mamun, any day.
A High Court rule issued in the case related to canceling licenses of 34 pharmaceuticals companies is to be disposed of. The apex court is set to hear the plea of war crimes convict Mir Quasem Ali, seeking review of the Appellate Division judgment that upheld his death sentence for committing crimes against humanity, on July 25.
