Supply of hypertension drugs in government hospitals not sufficient

Speakers at a workshop on community initiative for non -communicable disease prevention told that hypertension and many other essential drugs are not available at district and upazila level hospitals across the country.
The workshop was held at a residential hotel in Jessore town on Sunday where civil surgeons 10 districts under Khulna division and upazila health and family planning officers of 10 upazilas took part. Directorate general of health services organized the workshop supported by Asia Arsenic Network and ministry of foreign affairs, Japan.
Chaired by Gopendra Nath Acharya, civil surgeon, Jessore, the workshop was attended among others by Professor AHM Enayet Hussain, additional director general (planning and development), department of health, Sachi Tsushima, country manager, Asia Arsenic Network (AAN), Dr Rawshan Anwar, divisional director, health, Khulna, Professor Dr Sk Akhtar Ahmad, chairman, AAN, Dr Nahid Ferdousi, assistant professor, National Institute of Ophthalmology, Moshiur Rahman, coordinator, AAN and Tarun Kanti Hore, team leader, non-communicable disease project, AAN.
