Slow left-arm orthodox Arafat Sunny is hopeful to get his ban lifted as now he is serving a suspension imposed by ICC on his illegal bowling action during the last World Cup T20 in India.
Sunny will leave for Australia on September 5 along with pacer Taskin Ahmed to appear for bowling action assessment at Brisbane National Cricket Center in Australia on September 8.
Talking to the reporters Monday at Mirpur stadium Sunny said: “I have faith … I am quite hopeful …. I am not the first person to appear bowling action assessment as many bowlers earlier faced such kind of experience and I will be able to get the ban lifted by the grace of Almighty and then I will plan to come back very strongly back in main fold of Bangladesh Cricket.”
“I am confident now as my action comparatively has improved now and during the skill training the coach made a comment that my new bowling action is better compare to previous ….. if I am able to continue with my new bowling action, I hope I will able to get accustomed with new action , he added.
Replying to a question, Sunny said he feels comfortable with his new bowling action and Team head coach Chandika Hathurusinghe may also accompany them in Australia.
Left-arm spinner Arafat Sunny with his new action has managed a satisfactory result in his test conducted by BCB local panel. After coming back from the World Cup, Sunny was working under the BCB Sri lankan spin coach Ruwan Kalpage.
Former national all rounder and BCB coach Golam Farooq Suru talking to BSS today said, “I am impressed with Sunny’s new action and he looked quite comfortable bowling with new action. I am also amazed with his fighting spirit and very confident both of our bowlers Taskin and Sunny will be able to come out with flying colours in their action assessment exam at Brisbane National Cricket Center in Australia on September 8.”
Earlier, Both Sunny and Taskin were reported for suspect bowling actions after Bangladesh’s opening match in the ICC World Twenty20 against the Netherlands in Dharamsala on March 9 and after that he has been working on their action since last April.
Sunny kept himself away from the matches for most of the tournament of Dhaka Premier League and opted to work on his action on his own with his spin coach.
