Summer onion to be cultivated in 500 bighas in Rangpur

Onion cultivation has been done in 2625 hectares of land in Rangpur district last Rabi season. In our country, there is a shortage of onion mainly in November-December. This summer onion is picked in November-December. The government has taken initiative to cultivate summer onion considering this crisis. To meet the shortage of onions in the country, summer onions will be cultivated in 500 bigha land under the supervision of the Department of Agricultural Extension, Rangpur.
This new activity will play an important role in filling the onion shortage in the country and onions will be easily available in the market. Burirhat Horticulture Center, Rangpur, Regional Paddy Research Center, Rangpur, Regional Jute Research Center, Rangpur, these three institutions will produce saplings and distribute them among the farmers for planting on 30 bigha land. The seedlings required for planting in the remaining 480 bigha land will be produced at the farmer level.
