The first phase of the Sultana Kamal 35th National Women’s Chess Championship began at the hall room of Bangladesh Chess Federation (BCF) on Monday.
In all, 38 women and girls chess players from the capital Dhaka and other parts of the country are taking part in the event.
BCF Vice-President KM Shahidullah inaugurated the meet. BCF General Secretary Gazi Shayiful Tarique and Secretary of Tournament Committee Kamruzzaman Bhuiyan were also present at the inaugural function.
Nineteen players, including WFM Sharmin Sultana Shirin and WFM Zakia Sultana, earned full points after winning their first round matches.
The 2nd round matches will be held on Tuesday from 3:00 pm at the same venue.
