Suicide of businessman, Henolux Group MD, Director on remand

A Dhaka court yesterday (Wednesday) placed Amin Manufacturing Company’s Henolux Group Managing Director (MD) Nurul Amin and Director Fatema Amin on a two-day remand each in a case filed on charges of instigating suicide of contractor Gazi Anisur Rahman.
Magistrate Syed Mostafa Reza Nur of the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka passed the order after Sub-Inspector (SI) Golam Hossain Khan of Shahbagh Police Station and also the Investigation Officer of the case, produced the duo in his court with a seven-day remand prayer.
In the remand prayer, the IO said the couple took a large amount of money from the victim with promises of making him a business partner. But the couple did not return the money.
That is why the victim Anis set himself on fire causing his death. As such, they are required to be remanded to find out vital clues about the incident, the IO added.
Defense for the couple, submitted a petition seeking bail along with cancellation of the remand plea saying that their clients were not involved with the incident.
RAB on Tuesday night arrested the couple from a flat in the capital’s Uttara area after a case was filed against them.
Nazrul Islam brother of the victim Gazi Anisur Rahman, who died yesterday morning of burn injuries, filed a case against the couple with Shahbagh Police Station on July 5.
