Suicide mania increased among Bhangura women

The trend of suicide has increased to for intoleration in the family members in Bhanguraupazila of Pabna. There were four suicides here in the last month. On Saturday, according to a non-government survey, every death is due to family quarrels. There was a lack of tolerance behavior among these family members.
According to the records of Bhangura Police Station, one of them an old woman named Shefali Khatun (60) of Hatgram village of the upazila committed suicide by consuming gas tablets on July 30. At one time she was the head of the family but as she got older, her words were of no value in the family. So she was frustrated.
On July 27, a girl named Shantana Khatun (16) of Hospital para committed suicide. She wanted to study but she took gas tablets in anger at being forced to marry because of her father’s lack.
On the same day, another housewife named Shima Basak (22) committed suicide in Kalibari Haldarpara of the municipality. She married out of love, but she committed suicide because her father in-laws family’s members had abused and torturing with her.
On July 6, Amita Khatun (21) of Punibil village in Dilpashar union, committed suicide. Because her father was gave married to an illiterate boy without her consent.
The police officer’s investigation report revealed such information as the reason for the suicide.
M. Faisal Bin Ahsan OC Bhangura Police Station said the incidents of suicide were due to anger, resentment and pride due to lack of tolerant behavior in the family. There have been nine suicides in the police station in the past due to these reasons. However, in most cases, the housewives did not get tolerant behavior in the family. As a result, they committed suicide.
In this regard, Asif UzZaman, a psychologist and councillor at Mymensingh Medical College and Hospital, said that in order to prevent suicide, the family should treat teenagers and brides in a tolerant manner.
We have to practice praising them in the family without discouraging them. At the same time, the older of the house should be treated well so that their troubles do not turn into frustration and anger. In this case, he emphasized the importance of moral education and adherence to religious discipline.
