Staff Reporter :
The members of law enforcing agencies on Monday identified the man dead in “suicide blast” of Jhenaidah raid as Abdullah Abu, who escaped during a raid in the district in April.
“We suspected Abu was among three dead militants of Chapainawabganj raid,” Monirul Islam, Chief of Counter-Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of Police told a press briefing on Monday afternoon.
“But now we are confirmed about his identity. Abu was killed in suicide blast while another militant Tuhin, 25, killed in police firing,” Monirul claimed.
The CTTC unit and local police yesterday afternoon declared conclusion of the ‘Operation Subtle Split’ at the suspected militant den at Lebutola village in Sadar upazilas of Jhenaidah district.
The operation at a tin-shed house of the village began on Sunday morning and ended around 12:30pm on Monday, said our local correspondent quoting police.
“Seven grenades, one pistol, three bullets and bomb making materials were found in the house,” the Deputy Inspector General (Khulna Range) Didar Ahmed told reporters in a press briefing while announcing conclusion of the operation near the den on Monday.
The law enforcers also recovered some electronic devices from the den that could be used in making powerful bombs, the DIG said.
The recovered bombs were defused by the Bombs Disposal Unit, he added.
