Chandra Mandol (20), a college girl and daughter of one Dhirendra Nath Mandol of village Kharamkhali under Chitalmari Upazila in Bagerhat district committed suicide in her bed room on Tuesday after she was allegedly cheated by her lover, according to a report received here.
Police and locals said that the ill-fated college girl fell in love with Bijoy Chandra Haldar, a young man of village Deani Belai under Rampal Upazila in the same district 2 year ago through mobile phone and it became from deeper to the deepest during the last 2 years. Only a few days ago Bijoy proposed her to go to his residence for holding their marriage and accordingly she went there and came to know that he (Bijoy) is drug addicted and a fraud. Then she tried to flee away from there. Being realized the matter Bijoy confined the girl in his house and snatched away her gold necklace, air rings, jingling anklets, academic certificates and cash Taka from her. After a few days she tactfully managed to escape and returned back to her parents. After the incident the girl was mentally depressed and frustrated.
