Vast areas along Bhabadah Beel flooded: Sufferings of people mount

A vast area encircled Bhabadah Beel were flooded in rain water causing sufferings to thousands of people under Abhaynagar, Monirampur, and Keshabpur and Jessore Sadar Upazila .
The rain water also grabbed government offices in Monirampur and some other places under the upazilas.
Shahidul Islam Milon, panel chairman, Jessore District Council told that four lakh people under Abhaynagar, Monirampur, and Keshabpur and Jessore sadar upazila are being affected in rain water.
Bhabadah Movement Committee joint coordinator told Abdul Hamid Gazi told that incessant rain that caused water stagnations led sufferings to several thousand people of 100 villages under Bhabadah affected upazilas.
Hasanuzzaman, homeopathic physician at Keshabpur upazila headquarters who hailed from Panjia under the upazila told that rain water made his family members marooned as there was no dry land near his house.
‘The road that connect the upazila headquarters went under water,’ he added,’ large portion of the upazila headquarters is also submerged in water.’
Water grabbed a large portion of Rajarhat- Chuknagar Road bringing sufferings to commuters, locals said.
‘About 500 houses encircling my residence are flooded in rain water,’ Hasanuzzaman told.
Raju Ahmed of Chaluahati under Monirampur upazila told that around 6,000 people of Chaluahati union council are affected in flood water.
The residence of businessman Selim Reza at Shorkhola area under Nawapara Municipality went under deep water along with the residence of about 40 others.
‘Nobody knows our sufferings,’ he told. ‘Several locals roads were also inundated,’ he added.
 Mandwip Gharai, upazila nirbahi officer, Abhaynagar told that a total of 2,750 families of 4 union councils under the upazila are affected in water due to Bhabadah water logging problem.
‘Aus crop of 1,600 hectares land, Aman of 700 hectares and vegetables of 350 hectares were damaged in water,’ he added.
The UNO told that some 4,500 fish enclosures were flashed away for which the owners had to incur as loss of Tk 35 crore.
The then government constructed sluice gates at the meeting point of Abhaynagar, Monirampur, Keshabpur and Dumuria upazila of Khulna and Tala of Satkhira to cultivate crops in 60s to rule the water of different rivers
