The new Sudanese ambassador in Dhaka has sought Bangladeshi investment in the country’s ship-breaking industry.
Ambassador Hassan Eisa El-Talib made the request during a courtesy call on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Sunday evening.
Prime minister’s Special Assistant Mahbubul Haque Shakil told reporters the new Sudanese ambassador had called for Bangladeshi investments in their ship-breaking industry.
He also requested Bangladesh to open an embassy in Khartoum.
The prime minister said the proposal was under government consideration.
She urged the ambassador to help increase Bangladeshi exports of jute, jute products and medicine to Sudan.
Ambassador El-Talib praised the role of Bangladeshi peacekeepers in his country.
He said Sudan was adopting Sheikh Hasina’s women empowerment work as a role model.
