High officials at a workshop have directed the field level public representatives and officials for ensuring successful implementation of the Asrayan-2 Prokalpo to settle the natural disaster-hit homeless families.
They passed the direction at concluding ceremony of the daylong workshop organised by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) for field level public representatives and officials concerned at conference room of the Deputy Commissioner here on Thursday.
Additional Divisional Commissioner (Revenue) Abdul Mazid attended the workshop as the chief guest with Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Wahiduzzaman in the chair.
Deputy Project Director (Deputy Secretary) of the Asrayan-2 Prokalpo at the PMO SM Hamidul Haque coordinated the workshop and moderated the same as the main anchor.
The Additional Deputy Commissioners, Upazila Chairmen and Upazila Nirbahi Officers, Upazila Cooperatives Officers, Upazila Youth Development Officers and officials of different other government organisations took part in the workshop.
The workshop discussed about the progress already achieved in the process of implementation of the Asrayan-2 Prokalpo in the natural disaster- and erosion-prone riverine areas under all eight upazilas in the district.
The officials informed the workshop that over 4,250 river-eroded, floating and destitute families were already rehabilitated at 486 tin-shed barrack houses constructed under 37 projects so far in two phases of the Asrayan Prokalpo in the district.
They said the rehabilitated people were engaged with income generation activities under the government’s comprehensive social safety-net programmes to become self-reliant after getting training and support to lead better life.
