Bangladesh now in the high risk of cardiac diseases . It is one of the deadly diseases. At present it turns into an epidemic nature. There is no such impact of cardiac diseases in early 30 years ago.
The severity of this complicated and expensive disease in South East Asia including Bangladesh is in high scale than other parts of the world. The ratio of this disease in Bangladesh is more than the Europe, America and Australia continent . The people of this subcontinent are in the high risk of cardiac complications due to unawareness in taking foods and physical work. The main problems of cardiac disease are – coronary artery disease, heart valve disease and congenital heart disease .
The numbers cardiac patients are gradually increasing day by day including children also.
The huge numbers of cardiac patients are burden of the country. For better treatment of the cardiac patients , a number of low and mid-income family became ruined even after selling their properties for taking treatment abroad. In early ,most of the patients were keen to take treatment in abroad specifically in USA ,UK , Singapore and Bangkok spending huge foreign currency.
It is revealed from Chief Cardiac Surgeon of Chittagram Metropolitan Hospital Limited (CMHL) heart center Dr.Sarwar Kamal in an exclusive interview that from very beginning of 20th century the treatment of cardiac diseases began. Mentionable that an specialist cardiac surgeon of Boston Children Hospital (USA) Dr.Robert Gros cured a 7 yrs old girl after operation of congenital heart disease patients . From that very date , the treatment of cardiac diseases developed gradually. Across the world, first ever Open heart surgery done upon a 18 yrs old girl on June 6, 1953 .Cardiac surgeon of Zeferson Medical college (USA) Dr.John H Gibon first ever conducted the said open heart surgery .
Besides, Dr.Christian Barnard first ever transplanted a human heart in the body of a dental surgeon in South Africa in 1967. The treatment of cardiac patients in our country was unthinkable upto 80 decade rather dependent on foreign country .

With the aim of providing cardiac treatment to poor community , very recently CMHL launched full-fledged unit for Cardiac patients and hence the dwellers of Chittagong are now capable to take advantages of cardiac treatment.
While talking with the Chief Cardiac Surgeon of CMHL Heart Center Dr.Sarwar Kamal told that first ever conducted a open heart surgery on Abdul Mannan of Sitakunda upazila of Chittagong on January 28, 2011 in CMHL heart center .Cardiac patients now on rush towards Chittagong sensing the successful operation of heart and cardiovascular .
