Member of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges Nazmul Hoque Prodhan on Sunday asked the students and youths for glorifying the nation through achieving success in sports.
He also called upon the students for regular practice of sports and exercise to become physically stronger and mentally sound side by side conducting studies and other extra curricular activities to flourish their latent talents, potentials and abilities.
Prodhan, a freedom fighter, said this while addressing prize giving ceremony of the annual sports and cultural competitions-2015 of Panchagarh Mokbular Rahman Government College on its ground in Panchagarh district town as the chief guest.
Principal of Panchagarh Mokbular Rahman Government College Professor Dr Mohammad Abdul Khaleque presided over the ceremony.
Principal of Panchagarh Government Women College Professor Kanailal Kundu, Zila Parishad Administrator Abu Bakar Siddique and Sadar upazila chairman Anwar Sadat Samrat addressed the ceremony as the special guests.
Vice Principal of Panchagarh Mokbular Rahman Government College Associate Professor Delwar Hossain Prodhan and Convener of the Competition Organising Committee Assistant Professor AIM Inun Nishat also spoke.
Assistant Professor of the college Ehteshamul Haque moderated the function attended by teachers, students, guardians, public representatives, civil society members, socio- cultural and sports personalities, professionals and local elite.
More than 1,000 male and female students of the reputed educational institution took part in 40 sports events and different cultural competitions.
Later, the chief guest distributed prizes among winners of different sports events and cultural competitions after the discussion meeting in the concluding ceremony.
