Mayor of Rangpur City Corporation (RCC) and valiant freedom fighter Alhaj Sharfuddin Ahmed Jhantu on Saturday said success in sports at the international arena always brings pride, prestige and dignity for the nation.
He asked the students and young generations to become physically stronger in building healthier life through regular practice of sports and exercises side by side continuing their education properly to focus the nation at international levels.
Jhantu was addressing the inaugural ceremony of the annual sports competition of Begum Zobeda Azizon Girls High School and College in the city as the chief guest while Chairman of the Governing Body of the reputed educational institution and former Rangpur Regional Director of Bangladesh Betar Monwara Begum in the chair.
RCC Councilors Fazle Elahi Fulu and Runa Laila Farida Banu and Principal of Begum Zobeda Azizon Girls High School and College Atiar Rahman Pramanik addressed the inaugural ceremony as the special guests.
The RCC Mayor took salute and observed the March Pasts displayed by the students of the educational institution in the inaugural ceremony.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education & ICT) of Rangpur Md Mizanur Rahman attended the concluding ceremony as the chief guest and distributed prizes among the winners of different sports events.
Hundreds of people including teachers and students of the institution, guardians, public representatives, civil society members, youngsters, socio-cultural and sports personalities, professionals and elite of the city enjoyed the sports competitions.
