The High Court on Monday asked the government to submit a progress report on constituting either an inquiry committee or a commission to identify those who cooked up the stories of ‘corruption conspiracy’ over Padma Bridge project.
The HC bench of Justice Quazi Reza-Ul Hoque and Justice Mohammad Ullah passed the order after hearing a suo moto rule issued by the same court on February 15.
The court directed the Cabinet Secretary to submit the progress report
before it by May 7 as he sought eight weeks’ time to form either an enquiry commission or a committee.
Earlier on February 15, the court asked the cabinet secretary to submit the compliance report over the formation of the commission within 30 days. The bench passed the suo moto order taking cognisance of a report carried by Bangla daily Inqilab on February 14 under caption ‘Yunuser bichar dabi’ (Trial of Yunus demanded).
