Sagor-Runi murder: Submission of probe report now on Jan 18

Court Correspondent :The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka once again deferred the submission of the probe report in the much-talked Sagor-Runi murder case and fixed January 18, 2016 for submitting the report.Magistrate Mohammad Yunus Khan of the CMM Court passed the order fixing the new date as the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) did not submit the report on Monday. On October 8, the same court had fixed December 7 for submitting the report. The suspects in the case are: Runi’s so called friend Tanveer Rahman, security guard of their building Enam Ahmad alias Humayun Kabir, Rafiqul Islam, Bakul Mia, Mintu alias Barogira Mintu alias Masum Mintu, Kamrul Hasan Arun, Polash Rudra Pal and Abu Sayed. Earlier, on December 30, 2014, the Investigation Officer of the case Wares Ali, Assistant Police Super (ASP) of RAB submitted a progress report to the court instead of the probe report.Sagor Sarowar, News Editor of private TV Channel Maasranga and his wife Meherun Runi, Senior Reporter of TV Channel ATN Bangla, were killed at their rented flat in West Rajabazar of the capital on February 11, 2012.The following day, Runi’s brother Nowsher Alam Roman lodged the case with Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station in connection with the murder.
