A Dhaka court on Thursday fixed May 2 for submission of probe report against BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia and three others in a case filed for the death of 42 burn victims during BNP-sponsored shutdown and blockade across the country last year.
Magistrate Asaduzzaman Noor of the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka declared the new date on Thursday.
Bangladesh Jananetri Parishad President AB Siddique filed the case with Dhaka CMM Court, and the court had earlier, directed Gulshan Police Station to submit a probe report after the investigation.
According to the case statement, BNP Chief announced a nationwide blockade
programme from her Gulshan office in the city on January 5, last year, that followed shutdown. A total of 42 people were burnt to death and government property worth crores of Taka was damaged till February 1, since the announcement of the programme.
