Bengal Foundation organised a memorial meeting on Friday at Bengal Shilpalaya in the city’s Dhanmondi area to pay tribute to the Director of Bengal Gallery of Fine Arts and Trustee of the Bengal Foundation artist Subir Chowdhury.
Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid, noted educationists Dr Anisuzzaman and Syed Monjurul Islam, noted litterateur and poet Syed Shamsul Haque, Director of Gallery Chitrak Moniruzzaman, Italian Ambassador to Bangladesh Giorgio Giulielmino, artist Nazlee Laila Mansur, art collector Durjoy Rahman Joy, theatre activist Ramendu Mazumder, artist Nasim Ahmed Nadvi, Prof Nazrul Islam, artist Syed Jahangir, artist Rafiqunnabi, artist Qayyum Chowdhury, recalled the memories of Subir Chowdhury.
Noted Tagore artistes Shama Rahman, Adity Mohsin and Bulbul Islam rendered songs to commemorate Subir Chowdhury.
Later a documentary based on life and activities of Subir Chowdhury was screened in the programme. Subir Chowdhury passed away in Australia on June 30.
