The Anti-Corruption Commission (Khulna Office) arrested a Sub-Registrar with Tk one lakh bribed money from Shyamnagar upazila of Satkhira on Monday night.
Local’s sources said that detained Partho Pratim Mukharjee is the Sub-Registrar of Debhata Upazila Land Registry Office, but he has been performing extra duties at Shyamnagar Upazila Land Registry Office.
Neel Kamol Pal, Assistant Deputy Director of the ACC’s Khulna Office confirmed the news to the media that Partho was taken to the ACC Khulna office last night for filing a case in this regard. Partho is inhabitant of Kalikapur village under Dumuria upazila of Khulna, he added.
Victims Sources said, former lawmaker from Satkhira-4 Constituency Golam Reza has recently bought a piece of land. Partho demanded bribe from the lawmaker’s nephew Shafiqul for its registration. As per his demand, Shafiqul gave Partho Tk one lakh at his rented house in Rajarbagan.
