UNB, Dhaka :
A group of students with disabilities on Sunday staged a sit-in in the city’s Shahbagh intersection to press for its 11-point demand, including keeping aside 5 percent quota for them in government jobs.
They made the demands under the banner of ‘Bangladesh Protibondhi Sikkharthi Oikya Parishad’.
The students with disabilities also threatened to continue their movement until the government takes effective steps to meet their demands.
The other demands include publishing gazette on keeping aside 5 percent quota for them in 1st class and 2nd class government job, introducing a separate

ministry for people with disabilities, establishing a National Disability Directorate and relaxing the age limit for entry into government and private jobs as per the Persons with Disabilities Rights and Protection Act 2013.
The quota system for the 1st class and 2nd class government jobs was abolished following months of mass protests by students.
