DU Correspondent :
Speakers at a seminar in the city on Saturday suggested the country’s youths to be entrepreneurs, instead of concentrating on government job.
“Most of the youths want to get government job because they think it is secure for them. A very few of them want to be entrepreneurs. But entrepreneurship is better than government job. And the youths do not know it,” they told the seminar titled “The Entrepreneurs Talk” in Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban Auditorium on the Dhaka University campus.
Dhaka University Alumni Association (DUAA) organised the seminar with the assistance of
DU Timez, The Voice of Business and the United Nations Youth and Students Association of Bangladesh.
Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor AAMS Arefin Siddique inaugurated the programme, while DUAA President Raquibuddin Ahmed presided over it.
DUAA Secretary General Dewan Rashedul Hasan moderated the programme while Apex Group Chairman Syed Manjur Elahi, Chairman of Trustee Broad of Daffodil University Md Sabur Khan, Viela Group Chairman Devid Hasnat, internationally reputed fashion designer Bibi Russell, Bangladesh Youth Leadership Center President Ezaz Ahmed and DU Business Studies Faculty Dean Professor Shibli Rubayat Ul Islam spoke the seminar as the special guests.
Internationally reputed motivational speaker Sabirul Islam was the key speaker at the seminar.
The speakers said the youths had always played important role during the crisis moment of the country. They helped the key-policy makers to make future plan in the past. They established Bengali language as state language of then Pakistan by sacrificing their lives and brought our independence.
Vice-Chancellor Professor AAMS Arefin Siddique said Bangladesh is a country of huge potentials. The youths of this country are playing important role in the world. The youths love challenges and always try to recover that.
“The youths must be ambitious because ambition is the only way to find out something special,” he said.
Sabirul Islam said the society always encourages the government job. At the same time it also discourages entrepreneurship. But the creation of entrepreneurs is most important. A government official can serve a group of people. But an entrepreneur can serve the whole nation. Sometimes, an entrepreneur becomes the brand of the world like Steve Jobs.
“The number of unemployed youths is increasing day by day. They want government job, but the job is limited. So there is no scope to develop the economy of the country but creation of entrepreneurship. I think the Bangladeshi youths are more qualified than the foreign countries. If they get some suggestions and some privileges from the government and the private institutions they will innovate something new,” said Sabirul.
Apex Group Chairman Syed Manjur Elahi said only the young generation can improve the economy of the country by building them as entrepreneurs.
