Agitated by Abrar murder, protesting BUET students on Thursday threatened to lock up all academic and administrative buildings on the campus if their 10-point demand is not met by Friday.
They made the announcement on the fourth day of their protest in front of BUET Shaheed Minar.
The protesters also threatened to thwart this year’s admission test scheduled for October 14 if their demands are not met.
“We will lock down all buildings on the campus tomorrow if VC Prof Dr Saiful Islam doesn’t meet us and clarify his position about the demands,” a protester said on Thursday.
On Tuesday, BUET VC told the protesters that he agreed “in principle” with their eight-point list of demands, but the students continued demonstration as their demands are yet to be met officially.
“He (the VC) didn’t answer any of our questions and left hurriedly. We hope the VC will be here with us by 2pm on Friday and talk to us. If not then locks will hang on all BUET buildings,” said the protester.
The protesters were particularly aggrieved by Vice Chancellor Saiful Islam’s failure to address the issue to the students for over 30 hours after the incident.
But when the VC came before them, the protesters alleged that he had misbehaved with them.
They later set out a new 10-point demand on Wednesday with a deadline of October 15 for its implementation.
