Students of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) yesterday organised a rally followed by a human chain on the campus demanding punishment of sexual assaulters of women and children across the country including Mohammadpur Preparatory School and College. The students under the banner of general students formed the human chain in front of Central Library at 12pm and organised the rally at Muktamancha where over two hundred teachers and students took part. Speakers at the rally protested the sexual assault and harassments on women and children and demanded the punishment of culprits.
They said such kind of crimes would happen again and again unless culprits, those involved, will catch and punish. They also urged the government, civil society and general people to come forward to prevent it and ensure the punishment to the culprits. Among others, Professor of Physics department Nazia Chowdhury, Provost of First Ladies Hall Professor Mahruba Sharmin Chowdhury and students of the university Jannatul Afroza and Roksana spoke at the rally.
