Students receive free laptops at DIU

Daffodil International University (DIU) in association with Daffodil Computers Ltd distributed 2200 DCL laptops among the students under “One Student-One Laptop” project at the university’s 71 Milonayoton on Sunday. State Minister of ICT Division of Ministry of Posts, Telecommunication and ICT, Zunaid Ahmed Palak was the chief guest at the Laptop Distribution Ceremony and handed over the laptops to the students.
The function was presided over by Md. Sabur Khan, Chairman, Board of Trustees, DIU. The function was addressed by Prof Dr Yousuf M Islam, Vice Chancellor, Prof Dr SM Mahabub Ul Haque Majumder, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Prof Dr Engr AKM Fazlul Hoque, Registrar of the University and Mohammad Nuruzzaman, CEO, Daffodil Family. Before distributing the Laptops, Hamidul Haque Khan, Treasurer of the university conducted the oath taking part of the ceremony where the students swore upon regarding the best use of the laptops in academic and education purpose.
Zunaid Ahmed Palak, MP said that Europe and America need more than 20 lakh programmer by the year of 2021. Considering this demand, Bangladesh has taken initiative of establishing 28 IT park and 3 lakh educated trained and skilled ICT specialists will be developed through these IT Parks. Admiring different national and international achievements of DIU, the minister said, role of DIU is remarkable also in this regards. DIU is helping government of Bangladesh to ahead ICT sector and build up Digital Bangladesh. The University is providing large number of ICT skilled manpower and human resources in the country who are contributing to the society in ICT sector.
Zunaid Ahmed Palak said to the students that fourth industrial revolution is happening around the world. Robot, artificial intelligence, big data etc is using now in education, health, bank, garments sector and everywhere. So now we need lot of ICT specialist, programmer, problem solver and critical thinker. Without these, we cannot win the world. Now world winning tool laptop is on your hand. The Minister urged the students to make the best use of this laptop for building a bright future.
Md. Sabur Khan said, technology is now a part and parcel of teaching and learning. He urged the students to be a potential ICT skilled graduate to contribute to the nation developing bright career ensuring proper utilization and application of the Laptop.
