Students of DU affiliated 7 colleges observe hunger strike for results

The students of 2011-12 academic sessions of the seven colleges affiliated with Dhaka University on Sunday observed day-long hunger strike demanding publication of the results of their honours final year examination.
The hunger strike was started at 9:30am on the Central Shaheed Minar premises by hundreds of students.
The students urged the
Dhaka University authorities to take steps for running academic activities smoothly.
Rakibul Islam Shanto, a student of Dhaka College who was demonstrating, said, “We cannot apply for job because of the delaying in publishing our final year result. We have submitted a memorandum to the DU Vice-Chancellor for taking initiative in this regard. We have also requested the VC to publish the result by September 16.”
“We were dreaming that our future will be bright since the DU monitors their academic activities. But there was no fruitful steps to fulfil our dream. Rather, we are facing severe problem,” said Tanvir, another student of Dhaka College.
Meanwhile, the officials of the controller office of the DU wishing anonymity told The New Nation that it was wrong decision to affiliate the seven colleges with the university because DU has no adequate manpower to provide smooth service.
The seven DU affiliated colleges are Dhaka College, Eden Mohila College, Government Shaheed Suhrawardy College, Kabi Nazrul Government College, Begum Badrunnesa Government Mohila College, Mirpur Government Bangla College and Government Titumir College.
All the examinations of the colleges concluded in the first week of August.
