Realisation extra fees from SSC examinees: Students, guardians lock school in Jhenaidah

Secondary School Certificate examinees and some of their guardians on Thursday morning locked Sakharidah High school in Harinakundu upazila in Jhenidah protesting realization of extra fees from them during filling up SSC examination forms.
The agitated students also paraded the area and demonstrated . The head master of the school at last assured of returning the extra money that they had realised.
Some of the students said, 97 candidates were scheduled to participate in the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examination in 2016. As per the decision of the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education BISE) in Jessore had fixed the rate for Tk 1,200 and 1,350 for the purpose.
But the headmaster of the school Ibadat Hossain has been allegedly collecting Taka 2,000 from the humanities group candidates, Taka 2,100 from the examinees of science and commerce group ignoring the BISE decision.
Ranjan Paul, rickshaw van peddler and Sariful Islam and sme other guardians of the students alleged, the head master even did not give any relax to the poor and vulnerable students during collection of the form filing up fess from them.
“We have demanded returning of extra money from the students and punishment to the head master as he had been cheating the students violating the decision of the BISE in Jessore”, they said.
Sukur Ali Malitha, president and school management committee members Abdul Alim and Mukul Hossain when contacted had admitted the allegation against the head master and said, the head master without decision of the committee had been collecting extra fess in the name of filling up SSC forms from the examinees. Here even the poor students could not be waived from the slap of the head master.
When contacted, head master of Sakharidah High School Ibadat Hossain admitted the locking his school by some of the students and showing agitation, said, the fees went higher when the school had imposed coaching fees for three months and some other important fess from the students.
Amjad Hossain, District Secondary Education Officer in Jhenaidah said, he was informed the matter and advised the upazila secondary education officer in Harinakundu for taking immediate steps against the headmaster.
