Students ‘forced’ to attend AL human chain at Kulaura

Local Awami League leaders and activists allegedly forced the students of two schools to attend a human chain at Kulaura Upazila town area in Moulvibazar district on Wednesday afternoon.
Wearing school uniforms, over 150 students of Bongobandhu High School and Bhukshimoil School and College in the Bhuksimul union attended the human chain held at Chowmuhona in Kulaura Upazila town area under party banner in Kulaura upazila demanding punishment to the attackers of Bhukshimoil UP Chairman Rafiqul Islam Renu, General Secretary of Upazila Awami League .
Locals alleged that the AL men forced the students to join the human chain to show a good attendance. Though it was raining in the morning and the students had to wait there till afternoon, they added.
Upazila AL former president Mukim Uddin, Upazila JSD President Moinul Islam Shamim, UP Chairman Tofazzal Hosain Chinu, and some other local AL leaders addressed the human chain.
Faruq Mahmud Chowdhury, Presdent , Susasoner Jonno Nagorik (Sujon), Sylhet chapter said, school students are our future planners for development in Bangladesh. So it is very sorrowful matter to misuse students. I request government to take initiative to save them.
“I do not know who has forced the students to attend the humanchain,” said upazila AL President (acting) Adv Kamal Uddin Ahmed.
Shafi Ahmed Solman, Organizing Secretary , Kulaura Upazila AL said, it is not AL programme. Some AL leaders misuse the students. After the humanchain five students injured when they return home, he added.
 Principal Abul Monsur of Bhukshimoil School and College said no one forced the students to attend the AL hum chain. They eagerly came to observe the programmme , he added.
Bhukshimoil UP Chairman Rafiqul Islam Renu, Genereal Secretary of Upazila AL could not be contacted as his phone switch off.
