Student’s body recovered from Cox’s Bazar Matamuhuri river after 18 hours of missing

After 18 hours of missing , the body of Abdul Majid (14), a madrasa student, was found in Chabaraya of Matamuhuri River in Chakaria of Cox’s Bazar on Saturday.
Majid was killed on the spot at 7am on Saturday. Later, the body was recovered with the help of local people. Abdul Majid is the son of Dudu Miah of Hajian ward area of Phansiyakhali Union and 8th grade student of local Dakhil Madrasa.
On Friday afternoon, a teenager playing football in the Hajian area of Matamuhuri river area. Suddenly, the ball fell into the river. At that time, 14-year-old madrasa student Abdul Majid disappeared drowned.
After disappearing at around 1pm on Friday, the fire brigade and the divers team from Chittagong searched for at least 1:40 pm, but could not find it. After the fire brigade and the dive camp went away. On Saturday morning, Majid’s dead body was rushed to the spot.
Chakaria Fire Service Station Officer Mohammad Sayhul Hasan said, “We immediately started searching for divers from Chittagong and the divers team from Chittagong immediately after visiting Majid Matamuhuri on Friday noon. We conducted rescue operations for 1:40 pm. Later, on Saturday morning, his body burst into the spot.
He also said that there is more than one hole in the place where the teenage girl goes to Matamuhuri river. Due to which she was buried in one of those holes. Unplanned incidents of death due to sowing of sand from the Matamuhuri river are also occurring.
Locals complained, a group of people led by Shafi Member, Rafique and Aziz has been extracting sands from the field point of the temple of Hajian at Matamuhuri River.
Due to sand extraction, the children are trapped in the dark squabble created by the river. Three days ago, an eight-year-old daughter drowned while taking bath in the Matamuhhari River in Ghunia area of the same union.
