Students of Shahidpur Khan A Sobur High School in Terokhada Upzila of Khulna district have been attending classes under open sky as the school building is dilapidated and risky one.
Teachers and students are always in fear and attending classes amid a lot of difficulties. School sources said, there are more than 700 students in this school. Students from class six to ten are attending classes under open sky in front of the dilapidated and risky school building amid the fear of collapse. Besides, there are no sufficient classrooms, toilets, students’ common room, boundary wall multimedia classrooms or digital computer laboratory in this school.
Late Kala Mia Matobbar, an education patron established the school in 1947 with a view to be well-educated the children of this remote village. But the present condition of the school is miserable. A building was built many years ago which became unusable a few years ago. Teachers of this school have been conducting classes taking life-risk of them as well as the tender-aged students.
Plasters often fall from the ceiling and walls during the period of class. some of the students also were injured for falling chunks of rubbish and cement mixed plasters during the rainy season floors become wet by rolling water from the roof to of the school. In spite of the fact that this school is located in a remote village but its results of JSC and SSC are satisfactory. This school is on the leading position in the Upazila Sadar of Terokhada.
Khan A Sobur High School is located beside the river chitra at Shaidpur Village. Despite having a great possibility and wonderful environment, students of this school are depriving of getting modern facilities. Teachers have been trying their best for giving the students well education and they have been working relentlessly. In the last five years, this school achieved the leading position in the Upazila.
Some guardians said, after joining the headmaster sayed Ariful Islam in this School, he has returned the proper environment of this School with the assistance of the teachers and the members of the school managing committee. Competition is going here among the other schools of the Upazila.
Abdul Gofur a guardian said, I’m afraid of sending my son to the school as it’s a risky building.
Shahana Begum, another guardian said, after sending my daughter to the school, I’m in fear because the condition of the school building is a dilapidated one
Sayed Ariful Islam, head master of the school said, with a view to give well education to the students, I along with all other teachers have been working relentlessly.
Molla Ikhtiaruddin , President of the school managing committee said, inspite of the fact the school is located in a remote village, results are being achieved for the attempts of the teachers. He said, adding that this school might be turned into an model school in Terokhada Upazila area.
