The guardians and students are passing their days with anxiety and tension for admission in reputed schools in port city. Thousands of students in Chittagong are waiting to get admission at nine government and some renowned non-government schools this month.
Tension is mounting among the students and guardians as only nine government schools for more than 40 lakh city dwellers are not capable to meet the demand of new students.
The admission tests at nine government schools and some renowned non-government schools will start this month. The online application for admission test started from November 25 which will continue till December 10.
The nine government schools are: Chittagong Collegiate High School, Government Muslim High School, Chittagong Government High School, Bakalia Government Girls High School, Nasirabad Government High School, Nasirabad Government Girls High School, Dr Khastagir Government High Girls School.
All the government schools were established before the independence. No government school was set up in port city. There are only 3618 seats in government schools in Chittagong. There were 3556 seats in last year while 62 seats increased in current year.
There are 320 seats in Dr Khastagir Girls High School, 320 seats of class five and 140 seats in class nine at Chittagong Collegiate School, 173 seats in Muslim High School.
There are 160 seats at class five, 180 seats at class six, 70 seats at class eight and 150 seats at class nine at Nasirabad Government Boys High School, 240 seats at class five, 80 seats at class eight and 100 seats at class nine in Chittagong Government High School, 160 seats at class five, 100 seats at class six, and 45 seats at class nine at Nasirabad Government Girls High School, 160 seats at class five, 30 seats at class six, 20 seats at class seven and 40 seats at class nine at Haji Muhammad Mohsin Government High school, 200 seats at class five, 155 seats at class six, 60 seats at class seven, 55 seats at class eight and 80 seats at class nine at Bakolia Government High school and 240 seats at class five and 60 seats at class nine at City Government Girls High school. The pictures of rest government schools and two renowned Bangladesh Mohila Samity Girls High School and College and Ispahani School and College are same.
The admission tests at the prep-1 and nursery class at Bangladesh Mohila Samity Girls High School and College and Ispahani School and College has already completed last week while the admission tests at other classes at two schools will be held from December 27.
It is observed that the guardians are also in great hopes and anxiety for their child’s admission in different leading schools, as there will be hard competition among the admission seekers in the upcoming admission test.
The students as well as the guardians are now counting days to sit in admission battle after round the clock study throughout the year under the supervision of parents, house tutors and coaching centers under the supervision of different government schools teachers.
Meanwhile, some head masters of the government schools alleged that all decisions for admission were taken by DC office. “We have nothing to do in this regard. Even we have no power to take decision independently for the students as a chief of an institution,” said one of the head masters.
