Student dialogue against violent extremism at DIU

Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime unit of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) and Daffodil International University (DIU) jointly organized a seminar on ‘Student Dialogue against Violent Extremism’ on Thursday at 71 Milonayoton of Daffodil International University (DIU). Prof Dr Yousuf Mahbubul Islam, Vice Chancellor, DIU was present in the seminar as the chief guest while Dr Ahmed Abul Kalam, Professor, Department of Islamic Studies, Jagannath University and Dr Touhid Bhuiyan, Head, Department of Software Engineering, DIU were present as the special guests. Md. Alimuzzaman, Deputy Police Commissioner, Cyber Security Crime Division, DMP delivered keynote speech in the seminar.
Addressing as the chief guest Prof Dr Yousuf Mahbubul Islam said that violent extremism is spreading in our society as like as a disease. Most of the victims of this disease are young generation.
To overcome this situation we have to be conscious. Regarding this young generation should practice questions.
Prof Dr Yousuf Mahbubul Islam also said that it is easy to find out a better solution through questions and answers. So we have to practice a question making culture among our young generation.
While presenting the keynote paper Md. Alimuzzaman said that violent extremism has been spreading through modern technologies and social media like facebook, twitter, online media etc.
So we have to be more careful about new social media whenever we use these.
 Md. Alimuzzaman also said that it is duty for all citizens to keep our country safe and for this we need to create social awareness against extremism, He added.
After completing presentation he gave answers of the student’s questions.
