Student beaten at DU hall for News purpose

Ashiqul Houqe Rifat, a 2nd year student of Mass Communication and Journalism Department and Dhaka University correspondent of The Daily Campus news portal, was beaten on Tuesday in his room by one of his roommates for not writing news mentioning his leader.
Accused Farhan Tanveer Nasif is also a 2nd year student of department of Linguistic. The victim and the accused both are residents of Sir AF Rahman Hall.
Nasif is a BCL activist and follower of Riazul Islam, President of Sir AF Rahman Hall Chhatra League unit while Riazul Islam is a follower of BCL President Al Nahiyan Khan Joy.
“Nasif beat me for reporting on Chhatra League General Secretary of AF Rahman hall, Munim Shahriar Moon”, victim Rifat said.
He also said, “we had an quarrel regarding the issue that I do not write any good news about Riazul and Al Nahiyan Khan Joy. At one stage of quarrel, he punched on my face and kicked at my chest.”
Farhan Tanveer Nasif denied the allegation. He said, “we had some quarrel but neither did I punch him nor did I kicked.” But the eyewitness says, they erupted quarrel and at the stage, Nasif clubbed Rifat.
Contact Riazul Islam, he said, ” I talked with both of them individually. I did the thing what I considered for both of them. I bring both of them in a mutual point and warned Nasif for last time.”
However, Rifat lodged a written complaint to the hall provost against Nasif around 9.30 pm today after all these incidents. Prof. Saiful Hoque, Provost of the Hall, said, “A two member investigation committee will be formed by tomorrow and I hope the investigation report will be in our hand by next Tuesday.”
“I will do my best from my side to punish the culprit if the allegation is proved,” he added.
