The government has started taking fool-proof security arrangement so that devotees can observe the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha smoothly in the last week of September. The law enforcing agencies will install close-circuit television (CCTV) cameras in all the cattle markets, shopping malls, railway stations, bus stands and launch terminals to capture the faces of the criminals.
Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal disclosed it to the media after a meeting about security arrangement at the secretariat in city on Sunday.
In a bid to mitigate public sufferings before and after Eid, government will set up ‘watchtowers’ at 14 traffic congestions-prone points on highways, the Minister said. He said that trains, launches and buses would not be allowed to carry extra-passengers.
A number of teller machines will be set up at cattle markets and big shopping malls to identify fake notes, the minister said.
“The members of the all law enforcement agencies will remain ready to meet the emergency during the Eid,” the home ministry boss said.
He also has asked the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) to prevent smuggling of cattle hides during the Eid.
Besides, the intelligence agencies have been asked to intensify their round the clock vigilance in and around the city and to collect secret information about the suspected trouble makers or offenders so that police could take all sorts of preventive measures to avert any incident during the festival time.
The police in all the districts have also started taking preparations for fool-proof security arrangement.
The Home Ministry Senior Secretary Mozammel Haque Khan, The Inspector General of Police (IGP) AKM Shahidul Hoque, Director General of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) Benzir Ahmed, chief of Highway Police, Coast Guard, concerned officials of Dhaka South City Corporation (DNCC), Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), BGMEA and BKMEA, among others, were present at the meeting.
