Bangladesh Truck & Covered Van Transport Agency Owners Oikya Parishad has threatened to enforce strike from Sunday next in the port city .
Convenor of the Parishad Rustom Ali Khan disclosed it while exchanging views with the owners and workers of the cargo transports at Kadamtali office premises on Thursday .
The proposed strike aiamed at fulfilling their 8 point demands that placed before the concerned authorities earlier. The key demands out of the 8 points are to restart Saidabad Truck stand, withdrawal of orders to remove the bumper and side angle of cargo transports, stop of police harassment on highways, increase of weight measurement on highways on imposed scale device. Rustom Ali said if their demands are not fulfilled by today(Saturday), they will enforce strike from tomorrow. Among others, member secretary of Oikya parishad Kawser Ahmed, President of the Truck Covered van owners Association Mokbul Ahmed, Bandar Truck Owners & Contractors Association general secretary Jahur Ahmed and other leaders of the federating units of the parishad spoke on the occasion, sources said.
