Unprecedented general strike was observed at Noapara industrial town on Wednesday demanding the arrest and punishments to the killers of Mollah Oliar Rahman, Noapara Bureau Chief; Khulna- based Daily Janmabhumi and Councilor of Ward No 7 in Noapara Municipility.
He was shot dead at around 6:45 am at Professorpara area in Noapara industrial town on November 23 by a number of assailants.
The decision of 6am to 6pm general strike was announced at a joint meeting of different political, labour and economic organisations held at Noapara Institute on Sunday night with Abdul Maleq, former upazila chairman and also vice president, Abhaynagar upazila unit Awami League. .
The meeting was also attended among others by Rabiul Hossain, mayor, Noapara Municipality, Shah Jalal Hossain, General Secretary, Nawapara Fertiliser Association, Moshiar Rahman Moshi of BNP, Faruk Hossain, councilor and representatives of different organisations.
