Consumers Association of Bangladesh (CAB) and Kishoreganj District Administration jointly arranged a colourfull rally, discussion, seminar, hand bill distribution and prize, certificate, award, cheque distributing among the student marking the World Consumer Rights Day on Friday in district town and Upazila Headquarters. A discussion and seminar on strength smart products was held at Collectorate Conference Room on Friday morning.
Deputy Commissioner Md. Sarowar Morshed Chowdhury and Police Super Md. Mashrukur Rahmn Khaled BPM (Bar) were attended as chief and special guest while ADC (General) & DS Tarafder Md. Akther Jamil in the chair.
It was addressed among others by CAB President Alam Sarowar Tito, DNCRP Assistant Director Md. Ibrahim Hossain, P.P Advocate Shah Azizul Hoque, CAB Executive President Adv. Maya Bhowmic, its Secretary Monour Hossain Rony, Women Leader Bilkis Begum, Assistant Professor Samiul Hoque Mollah, Chamber Vice-President Alhaj Md. Khalequzzaman, Hindu Kallan Trusti Lipu Roy Businessman Abdur Rahman and Papiya Akther.
DC Md. Sarowar Murshed Chowdhury said the governent would take intiative to thwart any digital fraudulence as part of its effort to ensure consumer rights. Following the growing popularity of e-commerce these would be digital fraudulence.
CAB President Alam Sarowar Tito said, referring to the government election manifesto in 2008, Consumer Rights Protection Law has been passed in 2009 and Food Safety Law 2013.

In the morning Upazila Administration organised a colorful rally at municipal town from the upazila complex chattar.
The rally ended at Upazila Complex Chattar . UNO Md Abdus Salam Chowdhury chaired the discussion meeting .
Upazila Fisheries Officer Maznunnahar Maya, OC Md Sheikh Nasim Habib, Upazila Secondary Education Officer Md. Shamsher Ali Mondal, Upazila Project Implementing Officer Md. Shafiul Islam, Upazila Academic Superintendent Md. Shafiqul Islam, Upazila Health Inspector Jagdish Mahant, Organizing Secretary of Fulban Press Club Plabon Shuvo and The staff of the Executive Office Md. Asaduzzaman Assad also addressed the event as guests.
Gopalganj Correspondent reports: The National Consumer Rights Protection Day was held in Gopalganj on Friday.  
District Administration, Gopalganj organised the programme. The programmes were jointly organized by by Consumer Rights Protection Department and Consumer Association of Bangladesh (CAB), Gopalganj Unit.
On the occasion of the day a colourful rally was brought out that paraded main roads in the city. District high officials, local trade union leaders, local journalists and local elites attended the rally.
After rally a discussion meeting was held at Deputy Commissioner (DC) Office Conference Room in the city. Kazi Sahidul Islam, Additional District Magistrate (ADM), Gopalganj preside over the chair. Where Moklesur Rahman Sarker, Deputy Commissioner (DC), Gopalganj present as the chief guest.
Among others Chowdhury Emdadul Haque, Chairman, Zilla Parishad, Gopalganj, Md. Saidur Rahman Khan, Police Super, Gopalganj, Sheikh Lutfar Rahman Bacchu, Upazila Chairman, Gopalganj Sadar, Kazi Liakat Ali Leku, Mayor, Gopalganj Pourashava and Mahbub Ali Khan, General Secretary, District Awami League (AL), Gopalganj were spokent on the occasion.
Shamim Hasan, Assistant Director (AD), Consumer Rights Protection Department, Gopalganj & Mohammad Mojaharul Haque Bablu, General Secretary, CAB, Gopalganj District Committee conducted the programme.

BSS from Rangpur says: Strict enforcement of the Consumer Right Protection Act 2009 along with raising social awareness has become crucial to ensure supply of pure and safe foods in local markets for saving public health.
Officials and civic rights activists made these observations on Friday at a discussion held at the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner in
observance of the World Consumer Rights Day-2019 in the city.
The district administration, Department of National Consumer Rights Protection and Consumers Association of Bangladesh (CAB) jointly chalked out programmes in observance of the day.
Earlier, a rally with participation of officials of different government departments, activists of CAB, business community leaders, civil society members and local elite was brought out on the city streets.
Divisional Commissioner Mohammad Joynul Bari attended the discussion as thechief guest with Deputy Commissioner Enamul Habib in the chair.
Additional Divisional Commissioner (Revenue) Abu Taher Md. Sohel Rana,Additional Deputy Inspector General of Police for Rangpur Range Md. Mazid Ali
and Divisional Deputy Director of the Department of National Consumer Rights Protection Khondker Mohammad Nurul Amin addressed as special guests.
President of Rangpur unit of CAB Abdur Rahman and its General SecretaryAhsanul Haque Tuhin also spoke on the occasion.
Assistant Director of the Department of National Consumer Rights Protection for Rangpur Afsana Pervin discussed various aspects of the CRP Act
2009 and ‘Safe Food Act 2013’ and government steps taken for strict enforcement of the laws.
The chief guest suggested for strengthening administrative and awareness raising activities to stop supply of adulterated foods to local markets for protecting consumer rights, public health and human lives to build a healthier nation.
The speakers urged business community people to become aware of severe consequences of marketing adulterated foods and stressed on ensuring state control to free the market from dishonesty for ensuring supply of pure and safe foodstuffs.
BSS from Rajshahi adds: Speakers at a post-rally seminar here stressed the need for proper enforcement of the Consumers’ Rights Protection (CRP) Law for protecting the consumers’ rights together with freeing the public health from any food poisoning and other contamination.
They mentioned that the issue of the consumers’ rights is well accepted throughout the world and in the free market economy. So, immediate step should be taken to enforce the law. All the businessmen and others concerned should be brought under awareness programme in this regard.
Department of National Consumer Rights Protection (DNCRP) and District Administration jointly organized the seminar at Rajshahi College on Friday to mark the World Consumers Rights Day.
Deputy Commissioner of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police Amir Jafar, Principal of Rajshahi College Prof Habibur Rahman, President of Rajshahi Chamber of Commerce and Industries Md Muniruzzaman and DNCRP Assistant Directors Hassan Al Maruf and Apurba Kumar Adhikari also spoke.
The speakers said, the consumers’ rights in the developed nations focus on the right to information, choice, redress and representation, but we are
deprived of such privileges.
Unsafe food has been adjudged as a major threat to public health in Bangladesh, so emphasis should be given on adopting effective measures in
this regard, they added.
In this regard, they called for state control over the market for making it free from all sorts of manipulation, distortion, harassment and deception
along with ensuring a healthy atmosphere in the market.
The meeting was told that the Consumer Rights Protection Act-2009 was enacted by the government of Bangladesh in April 2009 to ensure consumer
protection by realizing consumer’s right to quality goods and services at fair prices.
It also highlights consumers’ right to information regarding quality, quantity, standard and value of the goods and services.
