Officials at a workshop have stressed on engaging sincere efforts of all concerned to change destiny of the poor by strengthening rural social services (RSS) and microcredit activities.They opined this at the divisional microcredit workshop organised by the Department of Social Services (DSS) at the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner in the city on Saturday afternoon, on Sunday. The event was arranged for further strengthening RSS activities initiated by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman marking the birth centenary of Bangabandhu to change fortune of the poorer section people. Officials of the DSS of all eight districts in Rangpur division participated in the workshop presided over by Deputy Commissioner of Rangpur Md. Asib Ahsan.
Director General of the Department of Social Services Sheikh Rafiqul Islam was present as the chief guest on the occasion.
Additional Divisional Commissioner (General) of Rangpur division. Md. Zakir Hossain, Director (Programmes) of the DSS Md. Zulfiquer Haider and its Rangpur Divisional Director Md. Abdul Motaleb Sarker were present as honourable guests.
The chief guest urged all concerned to work sincerely in strengthening RSS and microcredit activities to assist the poor in becoming self-reliant through income generating activities to build a developed Sonar Bangla as dreamt by Father of the Nation.
