Strengthening of the cooperative movement could be a social power to enhance productivity and develop human resources for attaining sustainable development at the grassroots level.
The opinion came at a discussion organised in observance of the 94th International Day of Cooperatives with the theme of “Cooperatives: The power to act for a sustainable future” at District Cooperatives Office here on Saturday afternoon.
Presided over by District Cooperatives Officer Helalur Rahman, government officials and employees, leaders and activists of cooperative organisations, socio-cultural activists, civil society members and local elite attended the discussion.
Sadar Upazila Cooperatives Officer (UCO) Farid Uddin, Kawnia UCO Mahbubul Islam, Pirganj UCO Mahfuza Begum, Inspector of Cooperative Bank Limited Zahidul Alam and President of Zara Samobai Samity Mohammad Hasan, addressed the discussion, among others.
Farid Uddin delivered the welcome speech narrating the huge success achieved through massive cooperative activities during the tenure of the present government.
