Strengthen monitoring activities on foreign loan funded projects: JS body

The parliamentary standing committee on the ministry of water resources on Sunday recommended to ensure strengthening monitoring activities of the ongoing foreign loan funded projects.
The decision was made at the 32nd meeting of the standing committee on the ministry of water resources of the 10th Parliament held at the Sangsad Bhaban with Chairman Ramesh Chandra Sen in the chair.
The committee also urged that ministry for taking initiative to implement projects within stipulated time so that the project cost could not be increased.
It also recommended for taking long term planned projects aimed at reducing wastage of public money and implementing the project allocating maintenance cost for constructing embankment.
Committee members and Water Resources Minister Anisul Islam Mahmood, State Minister Mohammad Nazrul Islam, AKM Fazlul Haque, M Faridul Haque Khan, Mostafizur Rahman Chowdhury and Selina Jahan Lita participated in the meeting.
The progress report of DPM tender under the implementation of the Bangladesh Water Development Board and detailed reports of damaged embankments in the northern part of the country were presented in the meeting. Senior Secretary of Water Resources Ministry Dr Zafar Ahmed Khan and relevant officials of the Jatiya Sangsad Secretariat attended the meeting.
