Strategic CEO outreach prog to enhance investment in IT

The government and US based Boston Consulting Group have taken initiatives to carry forward business-to-business (B2B) development and matchmaking programme among IT firms and their chief executive officers (CEOs) to boost investments and employments in IT sector, officials said.
They said as part of the initiative, a ‘Strategic CEO Outreach Programme’ will be launched on Monday (31 July) at a city hotel.
State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak will inaugurate the programme, to be attended by representatives and heads from National Board of Revenue (NBR), Bangladesh Bank (BB), Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA), IT industries, industry associations and other relevant organizations.
“The entire spectrum of activities under CEO outreach programme would help bring local and foreign investments and create employment opportunities for the IT sector,” State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak told BSS.
According to sources, the World Bank financed Leveraging ICT for Growth, Employment and Governance (LICT) Project of Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) under ICT Division has appointed BCG to work for boosting investments and create job opportunity in ICT sector.
Palak said the BCG has been asked to carry out a short-term and long-term international B2B business development plan and matchmaking programme among IT companies to enhance investments and ICT export earnings.
“The government under the visionary leadership of Sheikh Hasina and at the suggestions of ICT Affairs Adviser to the Prime Minister has fixed the target of ICT export up to $5b by 2021,” he said, adding the government has taken various initiatives including implementation of ICT infrastructure and appointment of BCG to meet the target.
