Rain or thundershowers may increase and temperature may fall further in the next 72 hours or within three days, Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) said in a press release issued on Saturday.
The Met Office weather forecast says rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind is likely to occur at a few places over Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions and at one or two places over Rajshahi, Barishal, Dhaka, Khulna, and Chattogram divisions.
The mild to moderate heatwave that is sweeping over Dhaka, Khulna and Sylhet divisions and the regions of Rangamati, Cumilla, Noakhali, Netrokona, Rajshahi, Pabna, Dinajpur and Patuakhali “may abate” from some places, the weather bulletin also said.
Day and night temperature may fall slightly over the country during the period, it added.
Meanwhile, a trough of westerly low has been lying over the West Bengal and adjoining area.
The country’s maximum temperature recorded 38.2°C yesterday at Jashore in the Khulna division while today’s minimum temperature recorded 19.5°C at Tetulia in the Rangpur division. Besides, the highest rainfall recorded 23mm at Chattogram district.
