Storm damages crops, houses in Monirampur

Storm with rain and hail storm has damaged crops and houses worth about Taka 5 corer in Monirampur on Wednesday evening.
According to the Department of Agriculture Extension ( DAE) and Project
Implementation Office (PIO) , the worst affected union of the upazila is Chaluahati. The partly damaged unions are Moshinnagar, Jhampa Horihornagar, Rahita, Khadapara and Monirampur both pourashava and unin.
According DAE sources, over 6 hundred hectares of land of different Rabi crops are badly damaged. Off them 80 hectors of wheat out of 4 hundred hectors are badly damaged.
 Besides, one hundred 50 hectors of lentil out of cultivated one thousand 950 hectors are damaged. The departmental source added out of one thousand 950 hectors of vegetable, a 90 hectors are damaged. Sources further informed, total cultivated Rabi crops were 4 thousand 852 hectors, but about one thousand hectors are badly damaged.

The amount of the damaged crops prize is about 3.5 cr. The departmental

source in a question informed, a 35 mm. rain fall was occurred till Thursday

morning from Wednesday evening.

On the other hand, PIO officials said , 5 hundred tin shed

semi pacca and kacha houses were damaged by storm.
