State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shahriar Alam has called for stopping unplanned pond digging and house building to free localities and farming fields from water-logging.
He clarified that unplanned pond-digging and other infrastructure development works, including house building, always create the problem of water-logging that hinders farming as a whole.
So, all the government and non-government organizations concerned should come forward and work together to make sure all the development works are done in a planned way, he added, also assuring his all possible cooperation in this regard.
The state minister came up with the observations while addressing a meeting to mark the opening and laying foundation of 10 roads and 15 government primary schools at Charghat Upazila Parishad Auditorium on Sunday afternoon as chief guest.
The Local Government Engineering Department and the Department of Education Engineering are implementing the projects.
Earlier, he inaugurated two markets at Poranpur Hat and a four-storey academic building of MA Hadi College.
Shahriar Alam said the present government is committed to continuing the development projects in the country despite the global Covid-19 pandemic.
“The government under the dynamic and visionary leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been working relentlessly to ensure a balanced development of the country,” he added.
He mentioned that the entire world has been passing a hard time amid the Covid-19 pandemic as many developed countries are also struggling to deal with the virus situation. “But, our development activities are progressing even in this adverse situation,” he added.
He said the government is determined to implementing the development programme dealing with the pandemic situation.
The state minister called for implementing the uplift projects with utmost importance so that the grassroots people can derive total benefits of those.
